Stinging Rain

Inspired by the tropical wet season of Far North Queensland, these paintings capture rain, shifting light, reflections, and movement while looking out across the sea.

Layers of colour and texture create a strong sense of atmosphere, reflecting rain, storms, and the monsoonal conditions of tropical life.

Like much of Rosella’s work, the paintings are rooted in weather, memory, and everyday life in the tropics.

Full Moon - Thawai

These paintings explore the light, atmosphere, and stillness created by the full moon across different times of day and night.

Layers of acrylic paint build over shifting cloud formations, while finger dragged lines move down through the surface, creating beams of moonlight.

This series reflects Rosella’s observation of the full moon across changing skies.

River Mouth

The river systems of the Claudie River near Lockhart River are brought to life through waterways, riverbanks, and traditional fish traps set along the water’s edge.

Using wet-on-wet layers of acrylic paint, Rosella drags her fingers through the surface, creating coloured grooves, lines, and movement across the canvas.

Unchii Tree

The Paperbark Tree after bushfire is explored through burned bark, flowing sap, and seasonal regrowth.

Thick applications of acrylic paint represent the bark, capturing the heat and effects of the burning process.
